Painting is fun. And it’s an art.
Egg painting is fun
December 1, 2008Play dough princess
December 1, 2008Undeniably, Play doughs are kids’ favourites! The king bought some for the princess. And, she was sooooo happy playing it. Yesterday, the king added to her Play dough collection, a tea set theme play dough! She was busy making bread, crossiant, waffle, donuts and many more. And she goes “Mama, quick, come eat this. It’s for u. ” And, she so enthusiastically made so many and eat it. And, she imitates well too, following how to make shaped ‘cookie’ using the shape cutter after daddy does it. Amazing! And, says “buy from me!” Ha. Selling bread and cookies.
It’s gonna be more fun when the younger companion can play along too.
Though more fights will be anticipated. ha.
Hair stylist
December 1, 2008“Meimei, be good. Keep still. I am cutting your hair.. ” is what i heard and see when i saw my two gals early this morn. They were playin together, and then the elder one was cutting hair for the younger one. Using a toy scissors though. It’s funny when i see and hear that. Those were the exact words that i used when i cut her hair.
A sequel to the Santa story..
December 1, 2008Today, just this morn. While i was dressing up, my gals were watching their fav Barney cartoon. And, i saw my elder gal drawing. I asked “Baby, what are you doing?” She says “oh, i am writing a letter. Telling Santa that me and meimei are good gals. “
I went “ha. nice. “
she says “oh, but i did not write the words properly i think.. “
I say “well, it’s ok. I will teach u. “
It’s sweet. Kids are learning to be more independent, as they grow.
Ever been told abt Santa and presents during Christmas?
November 28, 2008I’ve told my gal to be a good gal so that Santa (yeah, Santa Claus) will know it, and give her presents during Christmas. And, she asked “Mama, how does he know?”. I say “oh, i will write to him. “
Yesterday evening, she suddenly took out a book, and some color pencils. She put it in front of me. And, went to hug the sister a few times. And came back to me. Then say “Mama, see i am a good gal. A very good gal. I saiyang MeiMei. Can you please write to Santa now?”
I reply “Now? Another day. “
She goes “NOOOOOooo! Now now.. Please write now. “
So as to not disappoint her, i wrote :
Dear Santa,
Arissa has been a very good gal. Please give her some presents.
Love,
Arissa
And, she was so happy. Tore the page out, and fold the page. Then, kept it in the bag. She reminded me that i have to mail it to Santa. And, then she goes “Mama, now write one and tell Santa MeiMei is noti. “
I went “…”
And, say “Then she won’t have any present you know?”
She then say “oh.. Ok, then say she is nice then.. “
And, insisted i write it now and then too. So, in total i wrote 2 letters to Santa yesterday.
And when she misbehaves, i say “ok, i shall not mail the letter. ” She actually behaves herself immediately! Hmm. Is this a white lie?
But, kids are cute. And they really like Santa. Or rather, anyone who showers them with love and presents. But, Santa is a cute figure whom they will remember fondly.
What do you prefer, color or write?
November 27, 2008“What do you prefer, color or write?” is what i asked my gal last night. As i wanted to buy her some activity books. She loves them. And, i think it is a good way for parent and child to bond, and at the same time let the child learn something. And, allow the parent to be in touch with the child’s world once again. Afterall, we all have grown up, and not been in touch with the books for soooo long.
Here’s the full conversation:
Me: “Baby, what do you prefer, color or write?”
Baby: “EAT! I love to eat!”
And, i ended up laughing at the side. She continued by saying “Mummy, am i funny? Why are you laughing?”
This is the innocent lovely child i have.
Each child is born differently.
November 26, 2008Speech and physical developments, one at a time. This is how nature arranges it. My first child develops her speech in tremendous speed. She can talk very early. But walks only when she is around 1.5 years old. While my second walks when she is 7mths old! But now she can only make some noise. Oh, and call ‘papa’, ‘mama’ and ‘jiejie’ at the age of 1.
Observation skills is high when you are a toddler.
November 26, 2008The day before, my gal said to me “mama, i am waiting for a taxi. ” And, started to stand on her mattress, holding her arm high up, to imitate flagging down a taxi. And, the next moment, she says “the taxi arrives!” And, she came down from her mattress and sat on the floor. She says now she is the taxi driver, with her Donald Duck as the passenger placed right behind her.
She started “turning the steering wheel”. And, what amazed me most is the “changing of gear!”. She actually observed that adults change gear as they drive. She imitate each action of driving so clearly! Amazing! I was really happy to see my gal grow up to be such an observant gal.
“Arissa, mummy thinks you are amazing!”
Knocks to the head causes forgetfulness
November 26, 2008I always tell my gal “Baby, don’t knock your head too often, you will turn forgetful. ” That day, she knocked herself on the head accidentally. Immediately, she said to me “mama, i still remember you!”. And, the yesterday, her younger sister knocked her head while playing. She immediately went to the sister and say “Meimei (younger sister in chinese), do you still remember me? I am your jiejie (elder sister in chinese). ” I can’t help but start laughing at the side when i witness the scene. It’s hilarious.
